THE FRENCH AUTO MEET - FALL, 2001

Paris, TX to Paris, France!

The First Annual Fall meet was held on a spectacular Saturday, Sept 22, 2001, at SUNSET COACHMEN  in Charlotte, NC.

The turnout was amazing - seeing folks in from as far west as California (en route to Paris!) as far north as Maine, from Alabama in the Way Deep South and, of course, from all around the Charlotte region.

About 40 cars and many more guests made the event and the entire day a refreshing break from the tensions of the past 2 weeks - an effort on everyone's part to resume our routines, our work, our pastimes and our interests.

Interest in Peugeot, as always, is strong and getting stronger -- as the timelessness, value and quality of this fine automobile are recognized by the public. The commitment was evidenced Saturday by the turnout and passion for the cars - 403s, 404s, 405s, 505s, 604s - all were represented.

Many folks from far away stayed over until Sunday to enjoy the natural beauty of our region and the mountains nearby, and a lot of information and stories about the Peugeot experience were exchanged by all.

We were delighted to witness, as well, the arrival of Rob in his unbelievable Citroen DS21, en route - no fooling - from Paris, Texas to Paris France (by way of San Francisco, CA)  A sight to behold!

The people and the delicious foods and drinks prepared by Susan Bostic and her pals were wonderful.

SPECIAL THANKS   also to:

  • Julie and Madhu from Disortex for their help and expertise.

  • Steve McKee ("YO"), the best, without whom this show would just not have been possible.

  • J.P, - for working on sickly Peugeots most of the day!

  • Lew Baillie and Linda for their enthusiasm and input.

  • Jim and Pam Schlick for their dedication, their collection and their literature.

  • Steffan Moeller for his support and great bag of tool tricks.

  • Last, but certainly not least, OUR CUSTOMERS,   who came so far and made it soooo successful.

They came from near and far: Texas, New York, Pennsylvania, Maine, Virginia, Alabama, The Carolinas, Maryland and California!

And then, there were the cars... Added to the inventory and variety of Sunset Coachmen cars on hand, our guests' selection was wide and varied. And they drove 'em all in!

Will we do it again next Fall? That's a no-brainer. See you then.

But for now, click the pix for an enlargement and an opportunity to see and read a little more about the event, see a lot of Puegeots and whet your appetite fro next year.

Oh, and don't forget to ask your friends ...
